Affirmations

For Labour

In the weeks leading up to labour, affirmations became a powerful part of my preparation. They encouraged me to shift from initial fear to trust, grounding me in the belief that birth is natural, and that my body was made to do this.

One of the most special parts of my birth preparation was the birth blessing ceremony held by the women closest to me. During this gathering, each woman drew or wrote an affirmation card just for me—intentions and words of strength, wisdom, and love that they felt called to share. These heartfelt offerings became a central part of my birth space as we had hung them up.

During labour, those words became anchors I could hold onto during each surge, helping me stay calm, focused, and connected to my baby.

Affirmations weren’t just words—they were tools that brought me back to myself when I needed it most.  In my most intense moments, I would catch glimpses of their words—reminders that I was being held, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually by a circle of women who believed in me.

My hope is that in sharing these, you may find one you can connect with and use a tool during labour as I did.
